CeMAP exam format 2026

How the exams are delivered

The current specification says the exam for each unit is delivered through Brightspace with remote invigilation. Exams are on demand rather than tied to a fixed timetable. Before starting, candidates are expected to use their laptop/webcam for a 360-degree scan of the testing space.

Grading

Every unit uses the same percentage thresholds: 70% pass, 80% merit and 90% distinction. The overall CeMAP qualification is graded Pass/Fail only; merit and distinction apply to individual units.

Total study-time framework

The specification gives CeMAP a 250-hour Total Qualification Time: 6 guided-learning hours and 244 other hours. Each of the five units is shown as 5 credits and 50 hours of unit study time.

Suggested study order

Walbrook suggests FRE1 → MRT1 → FRE2 → MRT2 → ASEW/ASSC, but explicitly says learners may study flexibly. ASEW/ASSC is suggested last because it primarily tests MORT knowledge while incorporating FSRE fundamentals plus additional mortgage-protection and adviser soft-skills content.

Practice the right thing

Use mock papers that match the unit you are sitting. For linked case studies, practise keeping the scenario facts separate from general rules. For standalone units, make sure timing does not turn a knowledge problem into a pacing problem.

About PassIQ™

The four-question public check is a starting study-profile estimate, not a calibrated pass probability. Inside the app, quiz and mock results provide actual performance data for identifying weaker areas.
