Why mock exams matter more than revision notes
The CeMAP exam tests recall under timed pressure — not recognition, not comprehension. Reading notes prepares you for recognition. Mock exams prepare you for recall. They're a different cognitive skill, and the only way to train it is to practise it.
Candidates who sit their first full mock at least 4 weeks before their exam consistently outperform those who mock within the final week. The reason is simple: early mocks reveal gaps you can actually do something about.

How to get the most from mock exams
- Sit in one go — don't pause or look things up mid-exam. The pressure is the point.
- Review every wrong answer — not just the ones you guessed. If you got it right for the wrong reason, that matters.
- Look for patterns — three wrong answers from the same topic is a signal, not bad luck.
- Don't do the same mock twice — you start recognising the questions rather than recalling the knowledge.
What score do you need to pass?
The official pass mark for each CeMAP unit is 70%. On a 50-question paper that means 35 correct answers. On mock practice, aim for 75%+ consistently before booking the real exam — this gives you a buffer for nerves and question variation on the day.
